Success is not measured by you being better than someone, rather, it is measured by being the best you can be.
Think about it, what is success? We each measure success differently. Do you have to win the race to be successful, or is just being in the race a success? In baseball, if a batter succeeds 30% of the time over his whole career, he is a hall of famer, just 30%!
To me, success is giving your all in your daily endeavors. 100% effort. If you do that, you have nothing to be ashamed of, rather, you should be proud of what you have done and accomplished. Years ago in the NFL, there was a wide receiver who periodically, by his own admission, “took plays off”. How does a professional player do that? How do you think his teammates felt? (this maybe the reason he was traded to many teams). He had great ability, much greater than some of the players that were cut from the teams, he had a great career, but what sticks with me, what I remember was the fact to he took plays off when the ball wasn’t coming his way. He didn’t always give 100% effort. Or in other words, how much better could he have been had he given 100%?
Shortcuts are for the average, and will eventually catch up with you, while 100% effort is for the great. What would you rather be? I am not the smartest, fastest, or most in shape person, but what I do know is that I am improving every day and I am looking to make my life and the lives of everyone around me better.
Welcome to the most positive place on the net. We hope to make a positive difference in each of your lives every day.
