So saeth Yogi Berra. Subconsciously, this had to be thoughts and motto of the 2013 America’s cup team, for how could they possibly overcome an 8-1 deficit in a first to 9 win event, even after being penalized 2 race points due to practicing with an illegal boat? Even moreso, did they really believe it?
Whether they did or not, they pulled it off. In just about the most improbable comeback in the history of sport, the US won the last 8 races to pull off a win in the America’s cup. (for those of you that don’t know, the America’s Cup is a race between yachts, and is the oldest international sporting trophy). During his interview, the captain of the US boat said he never had a doubt that his team would come back to win. The team was also smart, they constantly made tweaks and changes till they got it right, (just in the nick of time).
Never quit, never give up, you never know what will happen until the game is finally over. Improbable comebacks happen all the time. They are longshots, but they do happen. Life is the same way. Never give up. In life, till you’re looking up at the daisies, it ain’t over. Either make changes, or start over.
What are you going to try, or try again tomorrow? What did you try that you came close at, but weren’t quite successful? What are you going to tweak to make your venture successful? What are you going to try that's new? Goals are a guideline for success, but they need tweaking when something doesn’t work. Do you think an airplane flies in a direct path between cities, or does the course get tweaked along the way to make sure they arrive at the correct airport?
Set your goals, make changes as needed, don’t give up, try something new, and remember, it ain’t over till it’s over!
Make it a great Friday and weekend.
